Chronology of the Sungae Foundation

Sungae Hospital was established in 1968 to contribute to the improvement of national health through
research and development. In 1982, the hospital was approved as a nonprofit medical corporation.
Continued growth and progress since that time has led to its current organization, which consists
of the Sungae Medical Foundation and the Kwangmyung Medical Foundation.

The hospital was designated a teaching hospital for the military in 1985,
began employing a comprehensive medical information system (OCS) in 1997,
and more recently introduced an EMR system to its entire information network.
It also has signed agreements to provide medical care for numerous
institutions and runs free community health seminars.

The hospital’s specialty care centers include a PET-CT center, a gastric endoscopy
center, a dermatology center, an artificial kidney center, a cardiovascular center,
an emergency care center, and an artificial joint center, all of which employ state-of-the-art
medical equipment. Its emergency care center provides the highest quality in emergency services.

The hospital’s 2005 announcement of a patient bill of rights helped it to gain high recognition and
accreditation. Not content with past achievements, the hospital has deployed a customer service team,
the Hanmaum Charity Team, to create a better Sungae Hospital for the future.
